Taiwnese artist Lucia Heffernan’s whimsical and funny paintings of animals in human situations

An animal lover, Lucia Heffernan paints animals in human situations. Her oil paintings of animals are figurative, down to the finest whisker. Her works are often funny and playful–a hippopotamus submerged in hot soup, while a heron is perched on the rim of the bowl, a white owl with a crown on its head perched on a white chair, a guinea pig hugging a teddy bear while sleeping peacefully on the moon, or the series of Chinese zodiacs in which all the animals act out specific human roles.

The artworks collected here are part of an exhibition entitled Wonderland at Art Influence, Taipei. To know more about the artist’s works, you can visit her website.
